Reflections Inspired by a Few Days at Lake Tahoe
"We all need a little breathing space/ to cope with our reality." by Ernie McCray
I spent a few days a while ago at Lake Tahoe with Maria, my sidekick, who was attending a conference for California Community College Trustees. I enjoy tagging along with her at events like these because I’ve found community college folks to be about as good a people as anyone could be, loving and caring, truly dedicated to students and learning, folks as refreshing as the beauty that stood tall and proud and all around where we happened to be: snow-capped mountains glistening in the sun, as strong winds blew giving a little push to a river on the run, pine trees, standing tall and green, stunning as spring turns into summer… And I wished, in moments, that every human being could experience what I was feeling and seeing, just to be free of the mess being made in Washington D.C. We all need a little breathing space to cope with our reality.
Ernie McCray is an activist for love and peace who acts and sings and writes both poetry and prose, a man who rises each day to do whatever he can, no matter how small or grand, to make the world better in some way.
Unapologetically.
